Atelier Gardens (BUFA)

Atelier Gardens is a 6-hectare film campus overlooking Berlin’s famous Tempelhof Airport. Formerly known as “UFA-Studios Tempelhof” and later as “Berliner Union-Film” (BUFA), it was home to the pioneers of film and has hosted almost 1000 film and television productions in its more than 100-year history.
MMT Network was commissioned by the consulting company Drees&Sommer to replan and expand the media and studio technology of Studio 1. The requirement was multifunctional use. The focus here was on the complete audio, video and lighting technology, as well as the in-house AV network. The possible uses are diverse. Congresses, TV productions, awards, live concerts and also cinema screenings take place there. This is achieved using variable lighting scenes and special audio presets with the corresponding X-curve. This means that a live concert could be held there today and then a 5.1 cinema evening tomorrow according to DCI and DOLBY specifications. An important advantage, as the venue is also used during the Berlinal.
